Milford School candidates understand
What have the candidates for the Milford
School Board realized that those in Northwest don't understand ? In
an Enquirer article
on 10/3, all four Milford candidates are dedicated to restoring busing
that was just cut last year realizing the safety of children comes before
administrator raises. (Milford
hired our double-dipping treasurer Randy Seymour)
Also, three of the four are against the pending tax levy claiming the
financial numbers presented by the current administration never seem
to add up. Just like in Northwest, millions in extra funding dollars
that recently came from the State never seem to get mentioned.
Does any of this sound familiar ???
Uniforms were working
The initial reports from Northwest High School
regarding the new dress codes were highly praised by parents during
the beginning weeks of the school year. Now we are hearing from parents
that school administrators are giving into the "gang-bangers"
and members of the "hood" by relaxing these polices by not
enforcing them. Is it any wonder why Board member Pam Detzel has moved
all her kids away from Northwest to send them to Colerain? As we have
pointed out so many times before, this is a direct result of the inability
of Superintendent Richard Glatfelter to run a district. Maybe he should
move his office over to Northwest High so he can live the daily life
of students who want an education versus those that could care less.
When will the NW Board wake up and retire Glatfelter ? Side
note: It was Glatfelter in his prior position that approved all the
inner-district transfers for Detzel's kids to switch from Northwest
to Colerain HS.
Candidate endorsements are a joke
Northwest
Press has a history of being on the wrong side
Our advice to every school board candidate
is to skip the Northwest Press interviews, and any debate forum involving
the press. Reporter Jennie Key has a long history of picking the issues
and people she wants. This process is totally unfair. Candidates are
picked by a so-called editorial board composed of one or two
people. The best example of how the Community Press operates is this
example from Northern Kentucky below:
"Cathy Flaig is a two-term fiscal court commissioner, and Lonnie
Fields, a political newcomer, has extensive management and community
service experience. Unfortunately,
Flaig declined to participate in The Community Recorder Editorial Board's
debate between the candidates. Saying she was advised against participating
by her consultant, Flaig put herself at a disadvantage
by declining to discuss her achievements or the issues before the Editorial
Board. Frankly, we have a problem with a candidate who is unwilling
to discuss the issues in the same room as her opponent. How can voters
trust that she will have the gumption and leadership to step up on the
fiscal court when disagreements come up among commissioners or with
developers? And since when does a consultant make decisions for a local
elected official We are endorsing Lonnie Fields for the GOP nomination
for fiscal court member."
This begs the question, who the hell does the Community Press think
they are? Candidates are increasingly refusing to subject themselves
to these self serving reporters that already know who they're going
to endorse, based on the special "talking points" packet
they get from the PR person at the school district office. Remember
it was Jennie Key that endorsed former board members Rick Stewart and
Jim Lay who both resigned from the board after making so many bad decisions.
Teachers
& Staff BEWARE
Central office handing
out your confidential information
We knew exactly why Pauletta Crowley was given a 17% raise when promoted
from Asst Principal to the central office Public Relations position,
despite the "so-called" financial emergency. We believe it
was to assist Superintendent Richard Glatfelter in running the pro-levy
campaigns from behind closed doors using the resources of the district.
We've learned Crowley sent a pro-levy fundraising letter to most, if
not all current and former teachers of the Northwest School District.
Who authorized and gave Crowley this confidential list of names and
home addresses ? Who paid for the labels, envelopes and stamps ? How
much district time was expended? The fundraising letter also included
a return envelope addressed to board candidate Jim Detzel running the
pro-levy committee. So now it appears Glatfelter is assisting school
board candidate Detzel by the convenient sharing of information and
district resources. Notice while reading the letter how Crowley admits
to "shaking down" district business partners and vendors
for donations. Is there any doubt why the independent audit reveled
few district puchases were not put out for bid? The current school board
should terminate everyone associated with the release of this confidential
staff information.
See the copy of Crowley's letter below.
